Staff, families and friends of CDL and its partners—the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Health Promotion Board (HPB), and Sport Singapore (SportSG)—spent an invigorating day at the SDG City Challenge this year.

Now in its second run, the 27 July event was held at two locations, South Beach and City Square Mall. The SDG City Challenge is an extensive People, Private and Public partnership between 21 organising and supporting partners, aimed at promoting the green, healthy and sustainable lifestyle while raising awareness for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

“A sustainable lifestyle really means striking a needful balance: Being aware of how our daily activities affect our health, and how they impact the environment,” said Mr Kwek Eik Sheng, Group Chief Strategy Officer of CDL, who was leading one of the C-suite participating teams.

Participants of varying ages and fitness levels competed in an 800-metre run, a 34-storey climb up South Beach Tower, and an obstacle course. To build inclusivity, a new non-competitive ‘Fun’ category was introduced this year, which saw younger children aged seven to 12, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities, crossing the finish line.

The day’s line-up also included two other events: a carnival at South Beach with 30 participating booths selling environmentally friendly food, products and services, and an Eco Treasure Hunt for families and teams over at City Square Mall.
