Since 1996, Republic Plaza (RP) has been a landmark business centre in Raffles Place. Two decades on, this iconic building has embarked on a makeover to enhance its space efficiency and value proposition.

The recent opening of Distrii ― one of Singapore’s largest co-working facilities ― and German burger bar Hans Im Glück has enlivened the building ― as will the many more exciting changes ahead.

These include the revamp of the main lobby and lift lobbies, driveway and frontage; lift modernisation incorporating destination control system and revamp of lift interiors; addition of new restrooms, upgrading of existing restrooms; and increasing floor-to-ceiling heights of selected office floors.

Additionally, a new two-level retail arcade and a revamped F&B basement will provide a wider array of dining options.

To facilitate the phased AEI works which commenced in June 2018, the building’s retail arcade and Basement @ RP have been closed. Pedestrian access to the building via the Malacca Street entrance and escalators from the basement level have also been diverted to alternative routes.

Slated for completion by 2H 2019, the upgrading works will rejuvenate the iconic 280-metre landmark and transform the property into a smart workplace for the future.

Beyond the brick and mortar, CDL has inked a partnership with Distrii to develop Smart Office and Building applications, which will pilot at RP by 1H 2019.

Through the Smart Office app, building tenants can sign up as a Distrii member to book smart facilities, such as lockers, work stations and meeting facilities located at Distrii’s premises. Building occupants will also enjoy the convenience of accessing the building with their mobile phones via the Smart Building app, instead of carrying multiple access cards.
