Making a Splash to Raise Funds
Over 400 senior management and employees from CDL and its subsidiaries Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc (M&C) and CBM Pte Ltd, as well as sister company Hong Leong Finance, exemplified the “kampong spirit”, donating their time and talent at the Assisi Fun Day 2018 on 24 June 2018. At this year’s Assisi Fun Day, the support from CDL and partners raised a total of S$233,855.80, which will go towards supporting 2,000 life-limiting patients who need palliative care, and their families.
At a special segment, CDL Group CEO, Mr Sherman Kwek (first on left), took the plunge for charity at the dunking machine. The segment alone raised over S$180,000, made possible with the strong support from CDL's partners such as its sales and advertising agencies, architects, consultants, main contractors and other stakeholders, CDL employees as well as visitors to the carnival. Together with him are Guest-of-Honour Minister Ong Ye Kung and Ms Ho Ching, Patron of Assisi Hospice.
Many CDL staff and volunteers had a meaningful Sunday well-spent helping out at the fundraising event.

Themed “Kampong Times”, Assisi Fun Day 2018 is Assisi Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year, with a target of $1 million. The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education, and Ms Ho Ching, Patron of Assisi Hospice.
Exemplifying the “kampong” spirit, the mega event co-organised by the CDL Group, including its subsidiaries Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc and CBM Pte Ltd., saw CDL staff and volunteers from all walks of life, including corporate organisations, church groups, schools and family-run businesses, coming together for a good cause. Visitors to the event were greeted by big-brand F&B names, retro treats, games, activities and live entertainment.
CDL Group CEO Mr Sherman Kwek said, “I am heartened by the strong support from our staff, business associates, friends and the community. Their generous contributions will go towards helping Assisi Hospice sustain its impactful and far-reaching work. Every dollar raised will make a difference to the Hospice’s patients and their loved ones.”
